Tui-Na pronounced (Twee-nah) is a non- invasive 'medical' massage developed though several thousands of years. It is renowned not only for its effectiveness in the treatment of musco-skeletal disorders such as arthritis & sciatica aswell as internal problems such as headaches, circulatory problems, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, stress & much more. Tui-Na uses the Traditional Chinese Medical theory of channels or meridians & the flow of the Chi energy, as its basic therapeutic orientation.
Tui-Na can be likened to Chinese physio-therapy using arms, hands, fingers, elbows & knees as tools for treating disease & illness. It protects health & builds up immunity, so that disease can be stopped in its beginning acting as a preventative medical measure, without any side effects!
Performed through light clothing the techniques & manipulations focus on specific pain sites, stimulating acupuncture points & other parts of the body to remove blockages along the meridians & stimulate the flow of chi & blood to promote healing, resulting in a relaxing powerfully energizing massage! Tui-Na rectifies anatomical anomalies, alters the inner energy state of the biological system & adjusts the bio-information of the body. Tui-Na is great for soft tissue injuries as it relaxes muscles & tendons & promotes smooth passage of the channels. It also promotes blood circulation & removes blood stasis. External herbal poultices, compresses, cupping, liniments & salves are also used to enhance the other therapeutic methods. Sessions last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Depending on the specific problems you may return for additional treatments.

The Vodder Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised form of massage that influences the direction and speed of lymphatic flow using light, rhythmical and precise hand movements and pressure. The lymphatic system helps destroy pathogens and filters waste, including medications and anaesthetics. It also helps to deliver nutrients, oxygen and hormones to the tissues of the body. A sluggish lymphatic system increases the chance of chronic illness and disease. Scientific studies have proven that the immune system is supported and even boosted as a result of receiving regular MLD treatments. MLD is also effective in countering the body's natural inflammatory response following soft tissue trauma such as sprains, fractures, orthopaedic surgery and orthodontal surgery. If received in a timely manner, MLD can dramatically shorten the route to recovery. Among its many other benefits, MLD induces a deep state of relaxation making it great for hypertension and constipation.
This highly relaxing treatment begins with a herbal foot bath whilst being treated to a Tui-Na based neck & shoulder massage. Followed by Tui-Na Reflexology which is a foot massage based on traditional Chinese Medicine theory. The foot resembles a miniature human body with key energy points relating to specific areas of the whole body, so when stimulated we can harmonise & relax specific organs & structures of our entire system. Tui-Na Reflexology brings relief to a wide range of acute & chronic conditions, & is suitable for all ages. It is also wonderful for relieving acute pain, improving posture as well as the health of the whole body. Reflexology has been traditionally used to help: the feet & legs become strong, sprains & pain in the ankle & feet, numbness, roughness, insomnia, digestive disorders, nervousness, emotional stress & anxiety, sciatica, cramps, contractions of ligaments, vessels & muscles.
Hopi Ear Candles are an ancient method of treating irritation in the ears and are an ideal alternative to syringing. This natural, non-intrusive procedure works on a chimney principle, gently drawing warm smoke into the ear canal, which softens and loosens wax and other debris, drawing impurities to the surface. It may help alleviate chronic headaches, sinus conditions, ear infections, allergies, vertigo and minor hearing loss that have been caused by excessive earwax. The candles are made from natural ingredients, including beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. The candling is augmented with manual lymphatic drainage to help alleviate muscular tension, congestion, pain and discomfort. Treatments are more beneficial when booked as a block of three or four weekly sessions.
Cupping is an ancient tool used in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves placing heated glass cups on the body. As the air inside the cup cools it creates a suction on the skin holding the glass in place. The negative pressure created within the cup changes the pressure on tissue structures such as nerves, capillaries and muscle fascia. The cups can be moved along the skin giving the effect of a massage but with an altogether different sensation! Cupping helps to treat many disorders by increasing blood flow to the affected areas as well as promoting Qi circulation. It alleviates pain, decreases swelling, increases range of motion and speeds up healing processes. It often leaves a slight bruise-like colouring on the skin that should fade in few days after treatment and is not painful. Cupping can be done as a standalone treatment or as an add-on within a massage.
